A Whole New (fisheye) World: Post 1: Weeee!

This weekend I had the pleasure of going to three Disneyworld parks in two days. My wife and I have Seasonal Passes, and while we enjoy the “local fare” of Seminole County, sometimes we just need a little Disney fix. Saturday night, we went to Hollywood Studios. It was supposed to end there. Well, come Sunday morning, we said “hey, lets go to Magic Kingdom”. We did… for about 3 hours. Then it was off to EPCOT. Oops.

I’m glad we did the jumping though for two main reasons. One: the Rokinon fish-eye lens I recently blogged about. Two: I had a family session Saturday morning, for which I rented the Canon 24-70mm L lens. So, I wanted to use it more; and where better than at Disney parks. That said, I have a pretty nice batch of images that should fill up a good amount of blog space in September. I like having batches of images before creating a theme (see: Local Downtown Series), this way it makes finishing out the theme a little bit easier.

This image can be simply called” Weeee!”. In case you don’t know, this is the Mad Tea Party ride in the Fantasyland portion of the Magic Kingdom. I captured it with the fisheye just after noon. The neat thing about this capture is that the cups are blurred, but the images isn’t blown out. Combining a slow shutter speed and a fast aperture in the middle of the day to capture movement, without a special filter, can be tricky. I lucked out here though because of the cover over the ride, it created a nice amount of shade over the ride.

Are you a Disney fan? Are you ready for many more Disney posts!? Comments below :)

Oh! And please swing by my new website, Steve Noto Photography. Especially if you’re in the Central Florida area :) Thanks!!
